The only sustainable way forward I can think of for OTHER-248 is to have something Discourse-side check for whether a user is an autoeditor in MusicBrainz, but AFAIK/CT MB does not currently expose this information. Exposing this via either an OAuth flag (which Discourse could request) or a WS call would likely allow Discourse to check for this when users logged in - or at least registers.
