I am frequently running into releases with multiple editions where being forced to echo the Release Group Type results in incomplete / incorrect types.
Case 1,
https://musicbrainz.org/release-group/4b7217f5-04a3-4635-bbf1-ae1a426bf9c4 has been marked "Album + Compilation + Soundtrack" because the limited edition on the same release date contains the Soundtrack. (http://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/B0084X1WPC) However, this https://musicbrainz.org/release/9da2650e-3f68-4ef5-8f12-0b434736a9af is not a Soundtrack.
Case 2,
Drama/Character CDs tied in with games / animated shows often have Stories / Dramas as well as pop songs or BGM tracks. The physical releases might need to be "Spokenword + Soundtrack", but the digital edition may only contain the pop songs, in which case inheriting "Spokenword" (and "Soundtrack") from the release group is incorrect.

I don't want to start having duplicate release groups just to have correct metadata, but that's currently the only way I see to be able to retrieve correct Type metadata. This workaround would obviously also ungroup releases which should appear in the same group.
