 Description  « Hide

When I change a track-recording association during the release edit (e.g., add a new recording instead of the old one), all track-recording associations after this track are mismatched (see the screenshots, track 7 and below).
It is critical, as it is impossible to edit the releases with the changes in track-recording associations.
This bug, I think, is related to the erroneous anchor of a recording to the track position in the release, and not to the recording itself.
The also the issue http://tickets.musicbrainz.org/browse/MBS-3984

You can work around it by not trying to change recording associations and copy track names to the recordings at the same time.

Note that the same behaviour also applies to adding a new track in the middle of a release.

Summary A big bug with track-recording associations Copy changes to recordings edits the wrong recordings if recording associations were changed

nikki's workaround is 4 weeks for non automods and often forget to do part 2 of edit 2 weeks later.

I haven't been able to reproduce this, I probably don't understand the problem. Can you please explain it in more detail?

What I have tried is:

1. open http://musicbrainz.org/release/27f6ade2-2168-41a4-b9d2-69a733e3f55b/edit
2. click Recordings tab
3. click "Edit"
4. click "Change" on track 7
5. click "Add new recording" radiobox in the bubble which opened in the previous step
6. click "Edit Note"

I only see an edit for the change I just made, it doesn't match the "Edits.jpg" screenshot at all.

I'm surprised that this issue and the similar issue http://tickets.musicbrainz.org/browse/MBS-3984 still open. The last times I do not encountered these problems. I think it is related to a new feature of sorting the tracks in the medium.
Note. But just today I encountered the same problem: after addition of the new recording instead of the existing one I saw the image exactly as Edits.jpg. I returned to the previous step, I clicked to "Edit" again, and this time the edit became correct. So the system's behavior is variable for unknown reasons.
Note 2. When I add a new recording (7), the square with the notion "Also update the recording with track changes" do not appears (see Tracklist1.jpg). So this new recording seems to be excluded from the tracklist, and as a result the next recording (8) pass on its 7th position, the 9th pass on to 8th position, etc.

The bug requires you to change the tracklist in a way that enables the "Also update the recording with track changes" tickbox to appear under all the tracks.

example:

1. open http://musicbrainz.org/release/27f6ade2-2168-41a4-b9d2-69a733e3f55b/edit
2. click Tracklist tab
3. Change one of the track names e.g., change track 1 to "Save the Last Dance for Mee"
4. Go to Recordings tab
5. Add a new recording for track 1 and click "Copy all track changes to associated recordings" tickbox at the bottom to tick all recordings
6. Click "Edit Note"

Now it'll look like the edits.jpg image

Yes. No square "Also update..." associated with this new recording "Save the Last Dance for Mee", so no this recording in tracklist. The 2nd recording became the first one, etc.
