Invalid barcode prevents me from fixing other attributes of a release

 Description  « Hide

I wanted to change the title and disambiguation comment for http://musicbrainz.org/release/bdfedf70-16ee-4f80-a28d-b776f70d69b4 but I can't since the editor tells me that the barcode is invalid and I have to fix it to procede. But I never entered this barcode and don't know anything about it and I only want to fix something else on the release! This should be possible.

Just tick the "barcode is OK" checkbox and you'll be able to edit the release as normal.

Indeed not a bug; but could be more user friendly. It's not obvious that clicking the barcode entry will open the "balloon" with the checkbox; it should open this automatically when it has stopped you from proceeding.

IMO it should simply just not require confirmation that the barcode is correct unless you're the one actually adding or editing it. If you haven't touched that field, it shouldn't assume you know anything about it. I lie every damn time I tick that box.

It should be easy enough to detect too: If the old barcode and the new barcode don't match, the user has added or edited the barcode and it should be checked for validity. Otherwise ignore it because someone else has already said it's correct.
