Why should it do a release search?
Oh, I see, that's the duration of the entire release. Hrm. Is that actually the normal use of it?
I don't actually know Also not sure if the NGS search has the information to make use of it - especially with multiple mediums. It's a bit weird; as surely using n-tracks would be a more useful parameter - but that's not passed through.
Just something I noticed that was different than classic really.
Having taken a look at this, I think it definitely was supposed to work (it was the old behaviour), however this isn't really (easily) fixable currently I believe since album/release length isn't part of the search server's indexes and we're using indexed search for tag lookup. In any case, there'd probably be just as good results for such a search using #tracks rather than duration; so doesn't really make sense to fix this.
As part of PICARD-77 I've fixed this in Picard so it doesn't send the duration for release/cluster lookups so if it gets merged this problem will go away to some extent (people may then just complain that the results suck, which they indeed do )
(Assigning to you just so you're aware Ollie, unassign afterwards!)
Ok, thanks for looking into this! That makes this MBS ticket a wontfix, right?
Yeah. I'll try and open something else to suggest ways of improving tag-based release/cluster search at some point.
