originally http://bugs.musicbrainz.org/ticket/3373 but the link mentioned there isn't on that page anymore. I found another example, the download link on http://wiki.musicbrainz.org/User:PBryan/metatool it works there, but on http://test.musicbrainz.org/doc/User:PBryan/metatool you get a 404 which is misleading (the ticket in trac has more discussion about what we should do)

I don't remember why we did it, but we've recently made this problem worse by blocking access to the entire User namespace from /doc.

Perhaps we should go back to allowing the User namespace?

That was an overly general filter to block pages like "Special:" I think

Nikki what do you think about ~~MBS-3290~~ as a solution for this?
It could be done by adding an nginx redirect.

Of course, it is to be expected that I agree with ~~MBS-3290~~ taking into account that I added it, but just in case - I agree!
