It says "see release group" when there are no other releases in the release group.

Aurélien Mino added a comment - 17/May/11 10:00 AM

I'd understood this rule ("see release group" when there are no other releases in the release group), but I think it looks odd at end.

voiceinsideyou added a comment - 17/May/11 12:17 PM

Oh OK... not sure it's really necessary to have alternate text in this case, is it?

Oliver Charles added a comment - 13/Sep/11 04:27 PM

Decision required - wontfix, or always use fixed text. Personally, I'm in favor of using "see all versions of this release"

Robert Kaye added a comment - 19/Sep/11 10:43 PM

Oliver: I'm with you. Lets go with "See all version of this release"

voiceinsideyou added a comment - 20/Sep/11 12:34 AM

+1 to Ollie's suggestion.

Damn, I liked the old behaviour — didn't have to click to find out if there's something else in the RG...

Ah well

P.S.
Doesn't "See all versions of this release" imply that there is more than one version?

voiceinsideyou added a comment - 22/Sep/11 06:05 AM

No, it doesn't. "All" does not mean 2+.

Mihkel Tõnnov added a comment - 22/Sep/11 03:36 PM

Um...

1. Every individual or anything of the given class, with no exceptions (the noun or noun phrase denoting the class must be plural or uncountable). — http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/all#Determiner

adjective
2. the whole number of (used in referring to individuals or particulars, taken collectively): all students. — http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/all

— determiner
1. a. the whole quantity or amount of; totality of; every one of a class: all the rice ; all men are mortal — ibid.

So ‟See release group" would be more neutral, although personally, I'd like to see the old behaviour return.

voiceinsideyou added a comment - 22/Sep/11 03:49 PM

Why exactly do you think we suggested changing it from "other"? Because "other" necessarily implies 2+; whereas "all" does not.

You're reading that definition wrong. In this context it is "uncountable". It makes no judgements about how many there may or may not be. It says "all" of them. This may be 0, 1, or 2+.

Mihkel Tõnnov added a comment - 22/Sep/11 03:54 PM

‟Other" was shown when there were 2+ versions of the release...

Oliver Charles added a comment - 22/Sep/11 04:05 PM

All implies showing everything in a collection/set. That can be 0 or more. Other implies showing everything but the current object.

So, it was never correct to say "other" in the first place because it didn't show "other" releases, it showed all releases. But really, this is done, and there's not going to be more bike shedding on this, sorry.

Johannes Weißl added a comment - 23/Sep/11 08:55 AM

Sorry for not commenting on this before it was solved, I wasn't aware that this existed. I liked the old behavior a lot, and I don't know what's broken about it.

For me "see all versions of this release" doesn't make any sense if there is only one release. It reduces the usability of the website for me . I created MBS-3508 to introduce a difference again!

Kuno Woudt added a comment - 30/Sep/11 05:05 PM

for the record, I preferred the old behaviour.

voiceinsideyou added a comment - 01/Oct/11 03:19 AM

Then it'd be helpful if you'd comment on MBS-3508 where solutions are discussed.

patate12 added a comment - 26/Oct/11 08:33 AM

How do we now know if there are other versions ?
all versions means there is more than one version and it's often wrong and you click and lose your time before you know it now. → MBS-3508 +1
