I had hard time understanding they were same edit types.

What's confusing? One just has more than one work being merged.

But in one case you've "Merge: <merged_work"
and in the other case you've "Merge: " + a list with a lot of spacing (I guess it's the extra spacing that is confusing).

Updated ticket with some edit links that work from live.

The horizontal spacing and bullet points look a bit weird (I think I'd just remove them, personally?), but I didn't have a problem understanding they were the same type.

Agree with voice - the spacing is weird but the edits are clear enough. Would removing the huge whitespace solve the issue?

I think removing the spacing and have the layout otherwise consistent would make it nicer (and removing the bullet points).
