Unless https://rt.cpan.org/Public/Bug/Display.html?id=27850 gets resolved there's nothing we can do

Shouldn't we just leave this open and await the downstream bug being fixed?

Oliver Charles added a comment - 10/Aug/11 04:00 PM

Judging by the fact that all the bugs there have been open for years, I don't think we're going to see that happen

Then is there another non-dead library we could be moving to? There are always options, even if unpalatable and a waste of time I agree that there are plenty more important things to spend time on; but the practice of closing obvious bugs (even if caused by a library) strikes me as a bit odd. Having open tickets is easier to search for and reference people to if they complain, for a start.

Nothing that supports the same syntax. We would either have to change syntax, or write our own parser. To me, neither of these are feasible options.

Oliver Charles added a comment - 10/Aug/11 04:23 PM

We can re-open it, but I'm unassigning it because I can't work on it.

Completely understand that!

I suggest Markdown syntax everywhere.
It will manage URLs too but maybe the only pb. is that you have to surround them by <http://my.url> (simplest URL).
You can alternatively also have named URLs etc. [this is my website](http://my.url), or see ref.#1[ref1], it's a named reference.

Markdown gets a -1 from me and doesn't fix this ticket anyway.

I've requested to adopt this package on CPAN.

I now have co-maint and will apply luks' suggestions when I get a chance.

Moving to 2012-08-20 release as we are now in freeze for 2012-08-06.

Oliver Charles added a comment - 31/Jul/12 05:06 PM

In beta testing.

Ian McEwen added a comment - 31/Jul/12 07:58 PM

Er, how is this (and the others) in beta testing? We're in freeze.

Ian McEwen added a comment - 31/Jul/12 07:59 PM

Wait, never mind, this is entirely dependencies, so I see. Still probably shouldn't have updated those dependencies after freeze though.

Oliver Charles added a comment - 01/Aug/12 12:51 PM

The dependencies had already been updated on beta, I just hadn't updated this ticket.
